Fimmvörðuháls hike
By far one of the most beautiful AND challenging hikes we’ve ever done. A 16-mile hike with 4,000 feet of elevation gain that changes drastically in terrain/weather switching from gorgeous greenery and waterfalls to snow and ice back to green cliffs. There are two options: Skógar to Þórsmörk Þórsmörk to Skógar We did Skógar to Þórsmörk. For the first 7 miles, you will see 12+waterfalls that rival some of the most famous in Iceland. Should I rent a campervan?
Renting a car is absolutely a must to travel around Iceland (unless you are joining a bus tour group). There are a lot of things to consider when deciding on campervan vs. a regular rental car.
